چکیده

Scenarios have been advocated as an effective means of acquiring and validating requirements as they capture examples and real world experiences that users can understand [Potts et al. 1994]. Although scenarios have appeared in many diverse forms [Carroll 1995], most authors have used them for behavioural analysis, e.g. scenario scripts [Potts et al. 1994] and use case scenarios [Jacobson et al. 1992, Graham 1996, Cockburn 1995]. More wider ranging views of scenarios as context settings for understanding socio-technical systems have been proposed by Eason et al. [Eason et al. 1996] and Kyng [Kyng 1995], but these too focus on user activity and system functionality, rather than system qualities also generally referred to as nonfunctional requirements. This paper explores the role scenarios could play in addressing non-functional requirements and proposes a method for scenario generation and analysis for the purpose.

An evaluation of timed scenario notations

There is a general consensus on the importance of good Requirements Engineering (RE) for achieving high quality software. The modeling and analysis of requirements have been the main challenges during the development of complex systems. Although semi-formal, scenario driven approaches have raised the awareness and use of requirement engineering techniques, mostly because of their intuitive repr...

Focusing the Optimization of Software Architecture Models Using Non-Functional Requirements

Model-driven techniques enable early prediction of the non-functional properties, such as performance, reliability, and costs, of a software architecture on a model basis. This allows to have an early assessment of the software architecture to avoid expensive redevelopments in late phases of the software development process if the non-functional requirements are not met. Even though there is us...

Identification and Analysis of Critical Activities of Firefighting Department for Structural Fire Scenarios Using Task and Training Requirements Analysis (TTRAM)

Introduction: Increasing the civil incidents including residential fires is a consequence of population growth and development of cities. Residential fire is one of the most important scenarios requiring fast response. Fire response operation encompass various and serious risks for responding team members. Therefore, the present study looks for determining the critical tasks of fire operation r...

Scenario-Based Evaluation of Abstract State Machines

In this paper we suggest a scenario-based approach to analyzing non-functional properties of ASM ground models. It is based on well-founded evaluation methods from the software architecture field and enables a designer to reason about the quality features of his model, like e. g. maintainability or testability. A set of scenarios that represent a system’s non-functional requirements and the eva...
